Corktown (Love Locks) Footbridge 8x10

$15.00

First proposed in the 1980s and built in 2006, the Corktown Bridge is a 70 m/230 ft-long pedestrian bridge traversing the Rideau Canal between the Golden Triangle and the University of Ottawa. Its name was chosen to honour 19th-century migrants from Cork County, Ireland who constructed the Canal while living in nearby shanties. The bridge serves as both a practical commuter route and a romantic landmark. Its stainless steel railings are adorned with hundreds of inscribed padlocks attached by couples to symbolize their enduring love.
